KLAUZULE / CONTRACT REVIEW / AI + EXPERT
CONTRACT VERIFICATION SYSTEM
Controlled contract review across the organisation.
KLAUZULE supports legal teams where contract review is repetitive, time-consuming and too important to rely on an ungoverned generative-AI response.
ILLUSTRATIVE REVIEW VIEW
The document, legal context, sources, rules and rationale remain separate layers of the process.
The problem
The challenge is not reading one contract. It is maintaining the same standard across hundreds of documents.
As document volume grows, so do the cost of manual review, the risk of inconsistent assessments and the difficulty of applying one standard across the organisation.
KLAUZULE is designed for processes in which comparable clauses should be reviewed against the same rules, material deviations should reach an expert and the result should be reconstructable and reviewable later.
From document to decision
Each layer of the process has a defined responsibility.
- 01
Document
The system identifies the text that requires review without merging the client's document into the legal knowledge base.
- 02
Context
The relevant type of legal relationship, review scope and organisational standard are defined before analysis begins.
- 03
Sources
The review uses a controlled knowledge set assigned to the relevant process and legal context.
- 04
Analysis
The document is compared against defined rules, standards and requirements of the contract-review process.
- 05
Rationale
Key findings retain their legal basis, source provenance and the reasoning trail that led to the result.
- 06
Escalation
Cases requiring interpretation, an exception or professional judgement are routed to the appropriate expert.
Automation boundaries
Verifiability starts with boundaries the system cannot cross without an explicit decision.
SOURCES
Sources are controlled
The system must not replace legal authority with a freely generated model response.
CONTEXT
Context is explicit
The legal relationship and scope of review are stated directly rather than hidden in assumptions within a prompt.
MATERIAL
Retrieved material is not a legal finding
A retrieved passage is input to analysis. It does not automatically become a legal conclusion or the rationale for one.
EXPERT
Professional judgement remains human
The system must recognise where automation should stop and human validation should begin.
Rationale and source provenance
The system should explain not only what it found, but why the result follows.
In a professional contract-review process, an answer becomes useful only when its legal basis, context and source can be established. Retrieval helps locate material; it does not automatically determine its legal significance.
KLAUZULE therefore separates the input document, legal knowledge, analysis, rationale and the final decision or expert escalation.
Controlled pilot
Start with a bounded process. Expand only after it works.
KLAUZULE is developed through controlled pilot implementations. The pilot is intended to validate the process and the quality of results before the scope is expanded.
THE PILOT INCLUDES
- One clearly defined contract-review process or document class.
- An agreed legal context, review scope and organisational standard.
- Controlled sources and rules required for the selected process.
- Defined escalation points to a lawyer or other relevant expert.
- Measurable criteria for result quality and process repeatability.
THE PILOT VALIDATES
- Whether the process can be described with sufficient precision.
- Which decisions and controls can be automated safely.
- Where interpretation or professional judgement is required.
- Which sources and rules should form the knowledge layer.
- Whether pilot quality supports expansion to a broader scope.
IMPLEMENTATION PRINCIPLE
PROCESS FIRST — SCALE SECOND
The purpose of a pilot is not to demonstrate what an AI model can do. It is to determine whether a specific legal process can be represented in a system whose quality, boundaries and responsibilities can be controlled.
Document and knowledge separation
A client's document and the legal knowledge base should not become one uncontrolled memory.
The document under review remains separate from the system's knowledge layer. Client content therefore does not automatically become a source for subsequent reviews.
Data processing, retention and integration are defined for the particular pilot and the organisation's requirements.
Expert + technology
Technology improves the process. Professional judgement remains with the expert.
TECHNOLOGY
data extraction, source retrieval, comparison, rule application, consistency checks, source traceability and process automation.
EXPERT
interpretation, exceptions, context, proportionality, professional legal judgement and responsibility for the decision.
KLAUZULE / CONTROLLED PILOT
Do you have a repeatable contract-review process that needs to operate at greater scale?
Start with one process, one document class and a clearly defined standard. If the pilot confirms quality, the scope can then be expanded.
